I’m a photographer based in Canvey Island, on the South East Coast of England — though my work often takes me further afield.
My love for photography began when I was 14, after receiving my first camera for Christmas: a Fujifilm FinePix S4300. That gift sparked something in me, and I soon created my first photography portfolio for college.
Although my studies eventually took me in another direction, photography never stopped being a passion. After college, I found the chance to dive back into it. I started out capturing animals and nature — partly because I was a little camera-shy myself, which made photographing people daunting.
That changed when I joined the wonderful amateur dramatics group, Cast and Crew Theatre Workshop. Those early shoots gave me valuable experience and confidence, leading me to take on bigger and more varied projects — from festivals and cosplay events to deeply meaningful portrait sessions.
After more than a decade behind the camera, photography is still one of my greatest passions. Working an office job can feel monotonous — it’s easy to get stuck in a routine that doesn’t leave much room for creativity unless you actively make time for it. For me, getting out of the house, going on trips, or simply heading out with no destination in mind has been a game-changer.
Photography has become my escape.
That said, even something you love can start to feel repetitive if you’re shooting the same subject over and over. That’s one of the reasons I’m drawn to event and street photography — every outing brings something new.
A perfect example is the cosplay photography I’ve been doing since 2024. Sure, you might see the same characters and even the same cosplayers more than once, but each shoot is different. Changes in location, audience, and atmosphere bring fresh interactions and unexpected moments every single time.
